About the Course

YouthBuild Tacoma provides young people ages 18 – 24 the opportunity to learn job skills in the construction trades, along with life skills and leadership. YouthBuild helps motivated young adults transform their lives and become leaders in their community. You’ll earn your GED, learn construction skills, earn certifications, and receive leadership training, all in a 30-week program. Graduates will be a entering a booming construction industry job market where applicants are in high demand.

What You'll Be Doing

Education

GED classes, educational programming and leadership development throughout the program.

Hands on Training

Construction training in our lab for the first 12 weeks, and on a Habitat for Humanity site for the next 14 weeks.

Work with Mentors

Students have a chance to complete internships and job shadowing in the last 4 weeks of the program.

Learn to Lead

Leadership and community service are core components of the program as well, and students will have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and achieve education and career goals.

  • Multi-Craft Core Curriculum Certification (union-recognized credential)
